Master Gardener

The Farmers Market is coming

By Donya Orchard, Chair, Farmers Markets

The season has arrived once again to begin thinking about the mouth-watering taste of fresh garden produce!

Remember the taste of that very first tomato of the season, or the wonderful flavor of fresh garden sweet corn?

Master Gardeners once again will host their Farmers Markets on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon (or until the produce is gone) at the Agricultural Learning Center on Fairgrounds Road.

Our numerous vendors are looking forward to fulfilling your anticipatory yearning for that very first “taste” of the season and are busy nurturing their gardens carefully. Many new vendors also have been asking questions about offering natural creams, eggs and other exciting products.

In the past, we have had as many as 32 vendors with wares from fresh vegetables, plump peaches, red raspberries, exotic breads, Casper’s very own olive oil from Greece, meats, sauces, flower bouquets and yard and garden décor. This year will include all of the above and more!

Our gardens are growing and work is in progress to bring you exceptional produce. In checking the growth in our gardens, this year’s produce should be the best ever. Come rain or shine, our gardeners will be there bringing you the results of their gardening efforts.

The markets will begin on the last Saturday in July and continue until a hard freeze or the last Saturday in September (July 28 through Sept. 29) from 7 a.m. until noon. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
