Annual spring plant sale set May 12

The Natrona County Master Gardeners will be offering locally grown plants on Saturday, May 12, for the annual plant sale.

The sale will be held at the Agricultural Resource and Learning Center, 2011 Fairgrounds Road, in west Casper.

This popular event is annually held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Doors will be open at 8 a.m. sharp, and the sale will continue until noon.

The Natrona County Master Gardeners have been busy since November planning for work on the plant sale. Decisions were made as to the many varieties of greenhouse plants to be planted and how many of each variety to order and grow.

The Greenhouse Crew of volunteers planted the first seeds the end of February. Spring was definitely in the air, as the greenhouse seeds germinated and grew, ultimately being repotted into smaller pots.

We are excited to offer diverse varieties of greenhouse plants to the public. There are many different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cabbage, kale, celery and eggplant. We will be offering many different herbs as well.

In addition to greenhouse plants, a digging crew of Master Gardeners has been digging perennials, small trees, shrubs and other plants donated from local yards. These plants are potted at the ARLC by a volunteer potting crew and ultimately readied for sale.

At the plant sale, there will be numerous Master Gardeners available to assist you with your selections, provide literature on the various plants and to answer questions. This is a fun day for both Master Gardeners and the public, and we look forward to seeing gardeners interested in purchasing excellent plants at a bargain price.
