Second-day happenings

First day of school was Monday for all of our future scientists, engineers, Hollywood stars and janitors.
A good day for parent-free time from the kids.
But terrifying for newcomers, and a reuniting for old friends coming for another year.
One thing for EVERY student to worry about is where to sit at lunch. Ultimate social time, seeing who your cliques and friends are. Nobody wants to be left out.
So, I decided to sit with my friends that I met last year. Four girls that I swear will make anybody laugh.
To my surprise, one of my other friends (who does not sit with us) came and sat with us on the second day of school … and she got along with my friends like a piece in a puzzle.
So, after things calmed down (handing out nicknames and complaining about the new teachers), I asked my friend who sat with us that day, “Why did you sit with us?”
She replied with a simple answer, “I am a floater!”
I always think of this. Knowing that my friend was going to float around to all of her other friends’ tables to meet their friends. Your friend’s friends can be your new friends, expanding everyone’s friendship vocabulary.
Everyone wins!
