Soccer club taking registrations

The Casper Soccer Club is accepting registrations through July 25 for the Fall Recreational Soccer League for ages 4-15.

Games tentatively will start at the end of August, and will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

The Casper Soccer Club will be hosting a picnic on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Anyone who enjoys the game of soccer is invited.

League registration can be done online at www.cyslonline.com, by printing out and sending in the registration or by contacting the Casper Soccer Club at 473-2617 or soccer@tribcsp.com.

Fall volleyball, softball registration open

Registration packets are available for women’s and men’s volleyball and co-ed softball leagues this fall.

Softball teams may register through Aug. 7, while the deadline for volleyball is Aug. 14.

The packets are available at the Casper Recreation Center at 1801 E. Fourth St. and online at www.crlasports.com.

Casper Heat Wins Father’s Day Classic

The Casper Heat won the 12U Scottsbluff Father’s Day Classic held June 13-15 in Scottsbluff. Neb. The team went 5-0 in the tournament and beat Alliance. Neb. in the championship game. The team members include Tanner Bekke, Austin Birkel, Colin Chambers, Kyle Chuman, Christopher Hawley, Brandon Johnson, Alec Myers, Josh Seghetti, Beecher Strube, and Austin Zimmerman. The team is coached by Cole Chuman and Chuck Hawley.

Casper Ice Arena opens

The Casper Ice Arena opened for the season on July 21.

All ages are invited to cool off from the summer heat at the public skating sessions that run Monday through Friday from 3:30-5:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m.

New soft boot, ultra comfortable rental skates are available. Be sure to wear cool weather attire as indoor temperature is 53 degrees.

Casper athletes earn medals at Big Sky State Games

Two Casper athletes won medals at Montana's Big Sky State Games, which were held July 18-20 in Billings.

Theresa Dernbach took the bronze for fencing in the women’s saber event.

Sam Zook won silver medals for the long jump and triple jump in the male age 12-13 category. He also received a bronze medal in his age group for the 60 meters.

Montana opened the their state games to Wyoming Athletes after the Wyoming State Games were cancelled.

Wyoming Cavalry wins playoff

The Wyoming Cavalry won the playoff game against the Mississippi Mudcats on July 18 at Casper Events Center. The final score was 54-26.

Athletes qualify for National Meet

The Casper Quick Track Club has been practicing all summer with great success at the state and regional meets. The top three competitors at the regional meet held in June Bozeman, Mont. have been invited to nationals. Kelly Walsh High School teacher and coach Mark Hileman has been coaching the track members. The following athletes of the Casper Quick Track Club qualified for the AAU Track and Field National Championships in Omaha, Neb. July 23-27.
