No new swine flu cases in Natrona County

Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:21 AM MDT

Although the number of swine flu cases in Wyoming continues to grow, no new cases have been identified in Natrona County.

The Wyoming Department of Health released its latest findings on Thursday, stating that 81 cases have been identified in Wyoming. Of those cases, 53 are from Laramie County.

Only two cases of swine flu have been identified in Natrona County to date, although it is possible the actual number is higher since many people do not seek medical treatment for flu-like symptoms.

The Department of Health recommends the following tips to help prevent the spread of swine flu:

* Stay home from work, school or travel while ill with flu-like symptoms, which include fever, cough, sore throat and body aches.

* Seek medical care if you are severely ill.

* Wash hands frequently with soap and water, or clean with an alcohol-based hand gel.

* Cover nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing; throw used tissues in a trash can.

* Avoid contact with ill people.
